El Daoud
El Daoud is my another take on tone bender MKI with completely different approach to this circuit than the previous flagship Supreme.
El Daoud brings much more low-end into play and fuzzes it out, what yields inn dense, stiff response (no mellow bass), and overloads heavily when pushed by fat pickups and hard playing. Output level and treble content is extended in great measure for more edge, more rasp, more impact.
Overall tuning is ’open’ with good dynamics and long notes evolve from sputtering attack, thru blooming sustain topped with crackling purr at decay. Gating effect is moderate, doesn’t get in the way and feels just right. No bacon sizzle here, by the way.
Rangę knob allows to decrease input bass to keep device from overloading - turn it back a little to stop sputtering attack or decrease completely for tight, distortion-like experience.
Each unit in this series will be a little bit different in regards to parts selection. Unit #1 you see here is equipped with two of Mullard OC72 and a single EI AC540 transistors. Build on original design PCB faking look of oldschool strip board. Low-current LED to maintain battery longevity plus DC input (negative center, 9V DC isolated power supply only!).
Demo soon.
